Ja-May-Ma

So my great new co-worker Vera has one of the craziest self-imposed nicknames ever. At some point in time she gave herself the name of none other than....Aunt Jamimah, or Aunt Jemimah, or Aunt Jemima...I didn't realize all of the spelling possibilities until I was researching it online! Anyway, this name came about due to the pankake syrup lady of our time, but there is a lot of other history behind the name. I am not going to get into the history, go to wikipedia if you are really interested, but here is a visual in case you have forgotten:

If only you knew Vera would you be able to see why this name is so humorous. She claims to be the "whitest" (I am not sure if that is how you spell white-est) black person and has no problem telling people this fact. She is 6'1" tall and is no Aunt Jemima! Her nickname has now taken on new forms: Antja has become the shortened version as of late and now Ja-May-Ma has been put on the table. I can't help but laugh every time I hear it!! I think I will throw Jay-may-may out there the next time the discussion occurs!
